Liz's Pumpkin Pie Recipe

something my children always requested coming up to Halloween when we prepared the pumpkin heads – this is a dessert you can make with the insides. It’s very simple and delicious.

Ingredients

6-8oz shortcrust pastry

2 eggs

4oz caster sugar

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

¼ tsp ground ginger

¼ tsp ground cinnamon

12oz cooked pumpkin (mashed or sieved)

4 tbsps. Milk

Method

* Whipped double cream (or any cream available for serving)

* Roll out the pastry and line a deep pie dish.

* Beat the eggs together with the sugar and sifted spices.

* Gradually add the pumpkin and the milk.

* Pour into the prepared pastry case.

* Bake at the top of a hot oven (425 degreesF or gas mark 7) for 15 mins, to set the pastry.

* Reduce the heat to moderate (350 degreesF or gas mark 4) and cook for a further 30 minutes, or until the filling is set.

* Serve just warm, topped with cream.

The English and Dutch language sessions in the Mairies

If you have been excited by the prospect of going along to your local Mairie to seek help in English or Dutch, following the heavy plugging that we do for these sessions in our radio programmes - then DON'T.

The sessions have been cancelled effective immediately - with no notice and no explanation.

We are sorry to give such disappointing news about such an important and valuable service, but these are matters totally outside our control. Furthermore, after having been specifically asked to give these sessions the utmost publicity, we are dismayed that we were not given formal notice from the appropriate body and that we we found out third-hand from an "innocent bystander" who has no connection to anyone involved in the decision-making.

It's left us with what might be called omelette sur le visage but these things can't be helped, I suppose.

Advertising on the Radio Anglais blog.

The travelling expenses to which we were entitled to enable us to travel to the different recording studios seem to have come to an end now that the first year of our programmes has come to an end.

We are still intending to continue to record and broadcast the programmes, if necessary at our own expense, but you can help us in two ways.

Firstly, by advertising on the blog. You can have a small advert on the sidebar advertising your business or services for a price which may be as low as €30 per annum. Or you might wish to consider placing a classified advertisement for articles for sale or wanted, for a price of just €3 per 15 words per month.

Secondly, you can spread the word about this blog and its contents to everyone who might be interested in the broadcasts. As you know, our programmes are intended to give guidance to English-speaking listeners to encourage them to deal with all of the different French legal and social situations which they will encounter during their stay in France.

The Christmas Special

Over Christmas 2010 we recorded a one-hour Christmas special that was broadcast on Radio Arverne. Many people expressed their dismay that they did not hear it, and so you can now hear it at this link.

Hello everybody!

Hello everyone, from Liz and Eric. Welcome to our blog.

What we will be doing here is to keep you up-to-date with the subjects that we are discussing on our radio shows and to give you the opportunity to interact with us.
